Above all, rule number 1, DON'T SCAN NOVELS, there's very little of interest in novels.
Avoid big books unless you're in a place that sells them at a modest price (they're often overpriced).
So aim for books of normal size in these shelves, which will be your priority:

- Crafts & hobbies (embroidery, painting, etc.)
- Animals
- History
- Philosophy
- Psychology, psychoanalysis, etc.
- Personal development
- Science
