Interpreting results

1. Check the barcode

Check the last two digits of the ISBN to make sure it's valid.

2. Estimate the buy-back value

Check buyback prices on sites like Amazon Trade-In, BookScouter, or other book buyback services to compare prices.

This comparison helps confirm the book's resale value.

3. Measure demand

Visit bigwords.com and search for the book:

  • Check current market prices
  • Assess market interest and availability
  • Buy books that you can sell at x20 x10 x5 with good sales of at least 4 per year according to data from the Biblioscan sales table. Except in exceptional cases (super rare books).

4. Check physical condition

  • Cover: no tears, no folds
  • Corners and edges: not blunted, no bumps
  • Inside: clean pages, no annotations in pen, pencil or fluorescent
  • Binding: solid, no loose pages

5. Ask for expert advice (for beginners)

Join the Biblioscan Discord and ask for feedback on the edition or condition if you're unsure.

6. Additional information

Consider the weight of the book: Shipping costs can have a major impact on your buyback margin, especially for bulky or large-format books.
