There is no single book street here. The Sunshine Coast is a string of towns and suburbs from Caloundra in the south to Tewantin and Noosa in the north, with hinterland market towns behind them, so a day of hunting means driving between clusters rather than walking a strip. Maroochydore, where this page is centred, anchors the middle: one Book Bucket sits in the town centre, Kickback Books is 4 km away on the Mooloolaba waterfront, and a new Neighbours Aid op shop opened in Minyama in March 2026. In Eumundi, the hinterland market town 24.5 km north-west of Maroochydore, Berkelouw fills the old Eumundi Trading Post building with what its store page counts as more than 100,000 secondhand books, beside new releases and a stock of rare, specialty and early out-of-print books. The firm calls itself the oldest bookseller in Australia, and a café shares the building with the shelves. Its own news page announced that the Eumundi shop would host the opening night of the first Eumundi Writers Festival on Friday 22 August 2025. It trades seven days, and Wednesday and Saturday are the two mornings it opens at 8am.

In Caloundra, 17 km down the coast from Maroochydore on the lower stretch of Bulcock Street, a trade-in bookshop that calls itself Caloundra's oldest community bookstore and lists AA&R Books and the Caloundra Book Exchange among its earlier names. It left 5 Bulcock Street after trading on Sunday 14 August 2022 and reopened three blocks down at number 87 the next day, and on 27 February 2026 its Facebook page said goodbye to the 1930s Frizzo building that had housed the old shop. Any book bought here can be handed back at a Book Bucket store for points worth close to half its shelf price, and large loads go through the rear loading bay only after you book a time with staff in the shop.

In Mooloolaba, 3.9 km south-east of Maroochydore on River Esplanade near the Parkyn Parade corner, a small shop whose Facebook profile promises a quality second hand bookshop in the heart of Mooloolaba. Its posts describe a week that keeps changing: Saturday and Sunday only through most of 2025 and early 2026, every day over Easter and in June 2026, weekends again on 7 August and seven days a week on 21 August 2026, always from 10am to 4pm with no holds over a weekend. A July 2025 post advertised hundreds of Phantom and other comics in store, so ring 07 5478 4413 before you make the trip.

In Buderim village, 5.6 km south-west of Maroochydore, A & F McIlreavy sell rare and secondhand books from a small shop backed by a larger online catalogue, and the ANZAAB directory dates the business to 1977 in Melbourne, with continuous trading in Australia and Scotland since. The listed stock is kept away from the shop, so they ask for a call the day before if you want to see a particular book, while the shelves hold thousands of titles that never reach the website. They buy anything between one book and a whole deceased estate: small lots can simply be carried in, while bigger ones start with photos texted to 0402 886 236 or emailed. Their blog posted five times between 26 February and 23 March 2026, and the opening times differ by page: 9:30am to 2pm Wednesday to Saturday on the blog, a 2:30pm close from Wednesday to Friday on the contact page.

The Rotary sale in Tewantin priced its 2026 stock at $3.50 a book and $1 for children's titles.
