Every address on this page lies within the City of Saskatoon proper. Warman and Martensville belong to the same census metropolitan area, but none of the thrift shops checked there documents book stock, so this page leaves them out. The west side does most of the work: Peryton Books on 20th Street West and Pages of Passion inside Gather Local Market sit under 400 metres apart in Riversdale, with the Frances Morrison Central Library about a kilometre east across downtown. The charity calendar runs most of the year. New Hope Dog Rescue opened 2026 with its book sale at Market Mall from January 23 to 25, and the SPCA Auxiliary filled a 33rd Street East address with books and records on June 5 and 6. October is the busiest month to circle: CFUW Saskatoon's scholarship sale takes over a hall of the museum on Lorne Avenue for two days starting October 7, 2026, and the Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra opens its fall Book & Music Sale in a 51st Street warehouse a week later, running two Thursday-to-Sunday stretches that end on October 25. In between, the public library sells withdrawn items at 50 cents or a dollar in its branches.
Some familiar names are missing on purpose. Turning the Tide on Main Street, McNally Robinson, Indigo and Coles sell new books. Value Village runs two stores here, the Salvation Army two more, and MCC Thrift has its Village Green shop on 33rd Street, yet their store pages carry only chain-wide product blurbs rather than anything store-specific about books, so they are not listed as book stops.

Trade-ins earn store credit worth half of Peryton's own shelf price, with no expiry date on it; a separate buying list of in-demand authors, from Tolkien and Le Guin to Sarah J. Maas, pays roughly half the credit value and settles anything over $20 by cheque. A 2025 update on its trade-policy page dropped health, diet, fitness, travel guides and car manuals from the stock, on top of the standing refusal of textbooks, ex-library copies and Reader's Digest editions. Tucked into the Louis the 8th Mall on Louise Avenue, just off 8th Street, Westgate opened in 1972 and moved here after a 2015 eviction notice at its old site, CBC News reported on January 5, 2025. The store's About page places that first shop in Westgate Plaza and says Nikki and Luke bought the business in May 2024 as its fourth owners, and CBC put the inventory at around 100,000 books, with romantasy, manga and YA pulling in a young crowd. Trade-ins earn credit at half the shelf price, recorded digitally instead of on the old paper slips; cash offers are rare, and each drop-off should stay within two bags or two boxes, the policy says. Its tips for 2026 ask for paperback fiction published since 2020, horror and copies of Meditations, and turn away Harlequins, westerns and ex-library books.

The Canadian Federation of University Women's Saskatoon branch dates its first book sale to 1965, and the 2026 fall edition fills Saskatchewan Hall at the Western Development Museum on Wednesday, October 7 and Thursday, October 8, with no admission fee. All proceeds go to the club's scholarship trust, which says it hands out more than $60,000 a year in scholarships and bursaries to Saskatoon students. Donations closed on September 21, and the drop-off rules turned away textbooks, encyclopedias, Reader's Digest condensed books, hardcovers missing their dust jackets and romance paperbacks older than 2015.

The Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra says it stages this fundraiser twice a year, spring and fall, in a warehouse on 51st Street East in the Hudson Bay Industrial area, 4.6 km due north of the downtown core, with the entrance at the back. The fall 2026 sale opens at 10am on Thursday, October 15 and runs Thursday to Sunday across two weekends, October 15–18 and 22–25, and the orchestra has already posted three spring 2027 runs between April 8 and April 25. Its donation depot filled up and stays shut until November 12, and the orchestra wants shoppers to arrive with their own bags or boxes.

The library sets the floor: Second Chapter prices hardcovers at $1 and most other items at 50 cents, at all nine branches. Westgate says it prices used books at about half their new retail price, and the CFUW sale in early October has no entry fee. Wednesday to Saturday. Those four days are the stretch when Peryton, Westgate and the central library all have their doors open, and Pages of Passion lists hours on all four of them on its own contact page. Sunday also covers all three with shorter afternoons, but Monday closes Peryton and Tuesday closes Westgate, and every library branch shuts on Wednesday, September 30, 2026.
