Where to buy used books in Naples

Updated 10/21/2026

Naples, Florida, sits on the Gulf about 35 miles south of Fort Myers as the crow flies, and its used-book trade is a small one. This guide reaches about 12 miles in every direction from City Hall: Old Naples and the Fifth Avenue and Third Street districts, Park Shore and Pelican Bay up the coast, Golden Gate inland, and East Naples and Lely along the Tamiami Trail. Marco Island to the south and Bonita Springs to the north both sit just past that line, between 13 and 16 miles away, so they appear only in the tips; Estero, though nearer Fort Myers, lies past the reach of both this page and the Fort Myers guide.

Be ready for a short list. Four stops make the cut, and just one is a shelf of used books open seven days: a dealer's stock inside an antique mall on Central Avenue. Two more are once-a-year events a few blocks apart downtown, the library system's big sale and the Naples Woman's Club flea market, and the fourth is a church thrift store that names books among its goods. Books on Third, the independent shop on Third Street South, sells new titles, and as of October 2026 the large charity thrift operators here did not mention books on their store pages; both sit among the tips below instead of the stops.

Antiquarian dealer in an antique mall

Wickham Books South

Treasure Island Antique Mall, 950 Central Ave, Naples, FL 34102

A dealer in scarce, collectible and out-of-print titles, listing on AbeBooks since December 1998, whose walk-in stock fills a booth at Treasure Island Antique Mall, 0.57 miles from City Hall, heading north. Its AbeBooks profile, worded the same since at least 2022 and still live in October 2026, describes the firm as mainly mail order and puts roughly 4,000 books at the mall across a wide range of categories, while its Facebook page, which posted on October 19, 2026, lists the same address inside the mall. The mall's contact page gives the hours the booth keeps, 10am–5pm Monday through Saturday and noon–4pm on Sundays, and its old website now shows an unrelated gambling page, so the link given here is the AbeBooks storefront.

Annual library book sale

Collier County Public Library Beachfront Book Sale

Naples Regional Library, 650 Central Ave, Naples, FL 34102

The county library system's large yearly sale, which in 2026 filled Naples Regional Library, a quarter mile west of the Wickham booth along Central Avenue. A library Instagram post of February 3, 2026 set it out: a members' preview for the Collier County Friends group on Wednesday, March 11, then public days through Saturday, March 14, with coffee table books, cookbooks, children's titles, hardcovers, paperbacks, DVDs and Blu-rays from 50 cents. Naples Press printed the public hours on March 6, 2026 as 9am–6pm Thursday, 9am–4pm Friday and noon–4pm Saturday. The county's 311 answer page places the sale once a year in early spring, yet a county news release put the 2024 edition on January 25 to 27, so start checking the library events calendar at the turn of the year.

Church thrift store

Bargain Box Thrift Store

3906 Tamiami Trail E, Naples, FL 34112

A volunteer-staffed shop of Naples United Church of Christ on the East Trail, 2.8 miles from downtown on an east-southeast heading, in a plaza you can enter from Guilford Road or straight off US 41. Its page on the church website, in a copy archived in July 2026 and again in its October 2026 version, lists books with vintage clothing, housewares, toys, jewelry and furniture, and says the proceeds support more than 30 local charities. Its doors open just four days out of seven, 10am to 3pm, with Tuesday and the whole weekend dark, and donations go in over the counter in those same hours or into a shed on the church campus around the clock.

Flea markets

Club flea market

Naples Woman's Club Annual Flea Market

Naples Woman's Club, 570 Park St, Naples, FL 34102

A one-day sale the Naples Woman's Club holds at its own clubhouse on Park Street, 0.21 miles west-northwest of City Hall and roughly 0.4 miles south of the library. The club's Facebook event called it the Annual Flea Market and set it for Saturday, January 31, 2026, 9am to 3pm, listing books with home décor, appliances, kitchen items, jewelry, clothing, shoes and linens, all new to lightly used. A separate Boutique Room held designer labels, and the money stays with a 501(c)(3) whose About page says it raises funds each year for college and vocational scholarships and social service groups. Watch the club's Facebook events for the next edition instead of counting on a repeat of the January date.

Local sourcing tips

  • Books on Third, the independent bookshop at 1300 Third Street South, is worth knowing for what it is not. Its own site sells curated new titles, events and gifts, with an online storefront on Bookshop.org, and as of October 2026 nothing there pointed to secondhand shelves. Go for author events and new releases; for used stock, the Wickham booth on Central Avenue is about 1.2 miles to the north-northeast.
  • Several big charity thrift names in Naples are worth a look but not a promise. St. Matthew's House runs three Naples thrift stores, the flagship on Airport-Pulling Road (reopened on July 30, 2025 after a driver crashed into the building, the Naples Daily News reported the next day), plus Golden Gate Parkway and Parkshore, and all three store pages carry the same paragraph about clothing, furniture and home goods. Goodwill Southwest Florida's Naples stores, Avow Treasures for the hospice, the Shelter Options Shoppe, plus St. Vincent de Paul's thrift at 3810 Tamiami Trail East, are no more forthcoming, since none of their own pages mentioned books as of October 2026: browse them for luck, not for a book section.
  • Two smaller church and charity shops at least take books in. The Guadalupe Resale Shop on Tamiami Trail North lists books among accepted donations in a March 2024 guide from the Guadalupe Center, and the Bargain Nook run by East Naples United Methodist Church names books and games in its own donation list. Neither says whether those donations end up priced on a shelf, so stop in when you are passing rather than driving out for them.
  • Between big sales, the library has a quieter channel. Its Support the Library page says each branch runs daily book sales, without naming which shelves or what they hold, and the same page says donated books feed the annual sale. Ask at the desk of any branch you happen to visit, Naples Regional and Headquarters included, rather than planning a trip around it.
  • Just past the 12-mile line, three addresses repay a longer drive. The Friends of the Bonita Springs Library scheduled their Fall 2026 sale over November 6–7, 2026, a Friday and Saturday, after a donors-only presale on Thursday the 5th, at the Bonita Springs Library, about 14 miles north. Flamingo Island Flea Market on Bonita Beach Road, some 13.5 miles north, opens Friday to Sunday all year with more than 600 indoor and outdoor vendors, though its own visit page never mentions books. Down on Marco Island, Sunshine Booksellers keeps two stores on Collier Boulevard that sell new books, gifts and cards rather than used stock.

Frequently asked questions

Where can I find cheap used books in Naples?

At the library's Beachfront sale, when it runs. The most recent edition at Naples Regional Library on Central Avenue priced from under a dollar and stocked hardcovers, paperbacks, cookbooks, children's books and discs, over three public days after a Friends preview, and the Woman's Club flea market on Park Street puts books among its household goods on its one day. Outside those dates, the Bargain Box on Tamiami Trail East stocks donated books among its housewares and clothing, and its email list sends notice of its discount sales, often at 50% off by the shop's own account. Wickham Books South at Treasure Island is the place for scarcer and older titles, priced as a dealer prices them.

Where do I sell used books in Naples?

None of the three stops publishes a buying policy, so plan on donating or selling online. The Bargain Box takes donations in store on its four opening days and in a shed on the Naples United Church of Christ campus at any hour, and the county library accepts book donations at any branch entrance during opening hours, though its policy limits fiction and nonfiction to titles newer than two years. Before you box anything up, sort the shelf by what it is worth: point BiblioScan at it, take one photo, and every spine it recognizes is returned with its resale value, which tells you which handful to list online and which box to drop at the church or the library.

When is the big library book sale in Naples?

Collier County Public Library holds one large sale a year at Naples Regional Library, 650 Central Avenue, opening first to Friends of the Library members in a preview before the public days. The county places it in early spring, though one recent edition came as early as late January, so start watching the library events calendar once the new year begins. Joining the Friends is the way into the preview.

Which day is best for book hunting in Naples?

Any weekday but Tuesday lets you pair the two stops that trade outside sale season. The Bargain Box is open on Monday and from Wednesday through Friday, until mid-afternoon only, and the Wickham booth follows the mall, which opens every day with a shorter Sunday. Saturday leaves you with Wickham alone, unless the library's yearly sale or the Woman's Club flea market is on.
