Volunteer tables in the community roomFriends of North Community Library Book Sale
North Community Library, 861 70th Ave N, St. Petersburg, FL 33702
Four miles north of Wilson's, in Fossil Park, this branch is where St. Petersburg's own volunteers set out tables instead of keeping a permanent room. The city system's events calendar has carried the sale twice in a little over four months, on Friday, November 14, 2025 from 1:30pm to 5:30pm and again on Saturday, March 21, 2026 from 10:15am to 4pm, both in the Community Room, so this is an occasional date and not a standing one. The chapter itself gathers in the building at 10am on the month's third Saturday, per the branch's own announcement, and it booked two Friends programs into that room for Saturday, September 19, 2026. Turning up to one of those meetings is the quickest way to learn when the next cartons come out.

Gulfport Public Library, 5501 28th Ave S, Gulfport, FL 33707
In Gulfport, the small independent city on St. Petersburg's southwestern edge four miles from Wilson's, the Circle of Friends keeps a bookshop inside the public library and calls it their primary fundraising source on the city's own page. Everything arrives by donation, gently used only and capped at two boxes a household on the library's posted request, and the money raised goes to major library purchases, programs and activities, equipment and supplies. It sells more than print: a library Facebook post dated August 12, 2026 flagged seasonal stock landing on the shop's craft table beside new sticker packs and crocheted work. The board gathers in the study room on the third Thursday of each month and says anyone curious is welcome to sit in.

Clearwater Main Library, 100 N Osceola Ave, Clearwater, FL 33755
Up in Clearwater, seventeen miles from downtown St. Petersburg, the Friends group states plainly on the library's support page that it runs stores in all five branches of the city system, and the Main Library on North Osceola Avenue is the one authorized to take a large donation. What they will accept is spelled out too: books, CDs, DVDs and VHS in good condition, with a quit claim receipt if you ask for one, and nothing outdated, damaged, dirty, moldy or infested. The catch is the week, because this branch is dark both weekend days and closes at 5pm ahead of City Council meetings, both facts printed on the library's hours page, which was also carrying notice of the September 7, 2026 Labor Day closure.

Also in Clearwater, four miles east of the Main Library, this one shares a building with a St. Petersburg College campus and carries one of those five volunteer stores. Its worth on a sourcing loop is the timetable rather than the stock, because it opens at 9am and runs to 8pm Monday through Thursday, the widest weekday window printed anywhere on this page. The county library calendar had the branch running children's storytimes on September 3, 9 and 10, 2026, which is a fair sign of how briskly the donation pile turns over in there.

Dunedin Public Library, 223 Douglas Ave, Dunedin, FL 34698
Three quarters of a mile south of Back in the Day Books, the Dunedin volunteers run a store the city describes as open every day the library is, selling books, magazines, paperbacks and audiovisual material at bargain prices. Take the schedule printed under that notice with a pinch of salt, because it lists a Monday-to-Wednesday line and a Tuesday-to-Thursday line with different closing times, which cannot both hold, leaving the library's own week as the only usable timetable, and that is the one printed below. That municipal page carries the 2026 holiday calendar, shut on September 7 and November 11, closing early at 4pm on November 25 and dark from November 26 through 28, which is the freshest thing published about the building.
