Downtown, 350 m south-southwest of King and Simcoe, the library's Friends group runs a used-book sale every spring and every fall in the McLaughlin Branch auditorium, and their page already lists April 22 to 24 and October 21 to 23, 2027. The fall 2026 round ran from Thursday, September 17 to Saturday, September 19, and Durham Radio News promised thousands of titles, new and gently used alike, for readers of every age, with cash, debit and credit taken. The organizers call opening day their busiest and warn of a line outside the ramp on the Queen Street side, so dress for the weather.
