The city's other entry here is Underground Books, a couple of miles east and south on Harrison Boulevard beside the Weber State campus. Inside Newgate Mall on the south side, close to the movie theater entrance, and running under two names at once: the shop's website is headed Cornel's Book Nook and its footer adds aka A Novel Idea Book Parlor. KUER counted it in July 2026 as one of the mall's two used bookstores, photographed owner Cornel Thomas outside it on July 20, and recorded that he bought the business in 2023 and set it in a former dress shop with pink and green walls under a pale pink doorway. Selling to it is an email job rather than a counter job: the FAQ says it buys heavily wanted names, occasional vintage or rare copies and lots of more than 50 books, wants the title, author, condition, year of publication and ideally a photograph before it quotes, and says it currently runs no trade-in program. Donations move the other way and are far simpler, a single load during opening hours or, for anything bigger, the one parking bay between the southwest doors and the dumpster plus a phone call to get the back room opened.

Southeast Ogden, on Harrison Boulevard around the corner from Weber State University, in a two-story unit whose ground floor KUER described on July 24, 2026 as reading like a plain used bookstore — a soft couch, shelves of worn paperbacks and a printout of the coming book clubs. Upstairs is the strange half: an octagonal bumper pool table people run Dungeons & Dragons on, antique and thrifted chairs the owner tested himself for reading comfort, and a student lunch counter he told the station is still to be built. Owner D.S. Andersen, a poet who calls himself a book doula, opened quietly in 2025 and told The Ogdenite in April 2026 that the full opening was waiting on renovations; the same piece records a poetry open mic every month on the Thursday nearest the new moon. No page the shop controls publishes an opening grid, which makes it the single stop here that needs a check before you set out.
