Biblioscan.ai is a SaaS service that estimates the value of books from
photos provided by the user. We place great importance on protecting your personal data.
This Privacy Policy describes what data we collect, how we use, share,
and protect it, as well as your rights regarding this data, in accordance with the
General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable European laws.
1. Data Collection
We collect only the personal data necessary for the operation and improvement of our service:
- Photos transmitted by the user: The images you send (containing books to be valued) are stored to enable analysis and estimation of the value of the books. These photos may contain personal data if, for example, they accidentally include people or other identifiable information. We encourage you to limit photos to books only.
- Connection logs: During each use of Biblioscan.ai, we record technical information such as the date and time of connection, IP address, browser or device type used, and actions performed (for example, sending a photo for analysis). These logs help us ensure the security of the service and improve its performance.
- Cookies: Our site/service may use cookies or similar technologies to ensure its proper functioning. These are essentially session cookies (to keep you logged in or remember your preferences).
Retention period: Your data is kept only for the time necessary for the purposes set out below. For example, the photos sent and associated data are kept for as long as you tolerate and then deleted according to your needs. Similarly, connection logs are kept for a reasonable period (for example, 12 months) for security and statistical purposes, then automatically deleted or securely archived. Cookies have a limited lifespan (session cookies expire at the end of the browsing session).
2. Purpose of Processing
We use the collected data exclusively for the following purposes:
- Service provision and improvement: Your data (including photos and logs) is processed to provide you with the book value estimation service and continuously improve the quality and usability of Biblioscan.ai.
- AI model training: Photos transmitted may be used to train and improve our artificial intelligence algorithms for book recognition. When we use your images for this purpose, they may be incorporated into training datasets securely and, where possible, in an anonymized or pseudonymized manner.
- Indicative price estimation: This is the main purpose of the service: to provide you, for informational purposes, with an estimate of the market value of the books in the photo you provided. The prices provided are indicative and have no contractual value.
The main legal basis for these processes is your informed consent (which you demonstrate by voluntarily sending a photo for analysis), as well as our legitimate interest in improving our service and AI models. In all cases, we ensure that your rights and privacy take precedence over any commercial interest.
3. Data Sharing
We process most of your data internally. However, to ensure certain service functionalities, it may be necessary to share certain data with trusted third parties:
- Service providers and third-party APIs: Biblioscan.ai may use external services (APIs) to complement photo analysis or obtain information about books. We rigorously select these partners and ensure they comply with GDPR or offer an adequate level of protection.
- No sale or commercial use without consent: None of your personal data is sold, rented, or shared for advertising or commercial purposes without your explicit consent.
- Legal requirements: We may need to disclose certain data if required by law or in response to a valid legal request. We will only provide the strictly necessary information and, if possible, will inform you in advance.
SMS Data Protection: As part of our SMS verification program, we are committed to protecting the privacy of your information. All information collected as part of SMS opt-in will not be sold, rented, or shared with third parties for commercial purposes. Your phone number is used exclusively for one-time account verification and is not shared with marketing or advertising partners.

4. Storage Location
All your personal data collected via Biblioscan.ai is primarily stored in Europe. Our servers and databases are hosted in data centers located within the European Union. However, to provide certain features, we use third-party services (for example, providers based in the United States). In this case, we ensure that these transfers are carried out in accordance with GDPR provisions, via the adoption of standard contractual clauses or other appropriate guarantees. You can obtain a copy of these guarantees or more information upon simple request.
5. Security Measures
We implement protective measures in accordance with industry standards and legal requirements (Article 32 of GDPR):
- Communication encryption: The sending of your photos and communication with our service are secured (HTTPS/TLS).
- Secure storage: Data is stored on secure servers. Access is strictly controlled and limited to authorized personnel.
- Organizational measures: Principle of least access, team awareness, incident management procedures. In case of violation, we will notify users and the CNIL if necessary.

You can exercise these rights free of charge (except for manifestly unfounded or excessive requests) by contacting us. We may ask you to prove your identity to verify that the request comes from the person concerned. We will strive to respond within the legal timeframe of one month.
