ScoutIQ vs Scoutly vs BiblioScan: Which Book Scanner? (2026)

ScoutIQ vs Scoutly vs BiblioScan, October 2026 prices: offline databases, markets, buyback offers, shelf-photo scanning. Which fits how you source?

I built BiblioScan, so read the third column of every table below with that in mind. The ScoutIQ and Scoutly columns come straight from their own pricing pages and App Store listings, checked on October 7, 2026.

"ScoutIQ vs Scoutly" is the classic question of the barcode era: two veteran scanners, both with a downloadable database for scouting without signal, at different prices. BiblioScan is the third name that now lands on the shortlist, and it works differently: one photo of a shelf instead of one barcode at a time. Here is how the three compare where it matters.

ScoutIQ vs Scoutly: two veterans, one idea

ScoutIQ and Scoutly solve the same problem the same way: scan a barcode, check the Amazon data, decide in a second, and keep working when the signal dies thanks to a downloadable database. The differences are in the details.

  • Price. Scoutly is cheaper at both levels: $9.95 vs $14 a month for live search, $35 vs $44 with the offline database (direct prices). Annual billing narrows the gap without closing it: $100 vs $120 a year for live search, $350 vs $432 with the database.
  • Demand data. ScoutIQ's signature is eScore, a demand metric estimating how many days a book sold over the past six months, with customizable Smart Triggers on top.
  • Coverage. ScoutIQ is US and UK only. Scoutly's offline database covers the US, Canada and the UK, and its live search adds France, Germany, Italy and Spain.
  • Scope. ScoutIQ was built for books and media. Scoutly is a general Amazon scanner that also handles toys and general merchandise, and it bundles TurboLister for listing.
  • Seller account. ScoutIQ's live lookups require an Amazon Professional seller account; its offline database works without one.
  • ScoutIQ 2. Threecolts also ships a redesigned ScoutIQ 2 app under a separate App Store listing.
  • The bundle question. ScoutIQ is also included in Threecolts' Seller 365 bundle (from $69/mo, alongside InventoryLab and Scoutify 2). If you already pay for Seller 365, you already have ScoutIQ.

Where BiblioScan fits

BiblioScan is not a third barcode veteran. Its main mode is a photo: point your phone at a whole shelf or an open box, and the AI recognizes every book by its spine, prices each one against live market data, and ranks the batch by BiblioRank, so the money rises to the top. Barcode scanning (camera or Bluetooth scanner) and customizable buy/reject triggers are still there for single books, and linking your Amazon seller account is optional.

Every US scan also shows buyback offers from 20+ US buyback sites, so even the books not worth listing have a cash floor. And it covers France, Germany and Spain alongside the US. The trade-offs are real: no offline database, books only, and no listing software.

Which one should you pick?

Pick ScoutIQ if…

…you want eScore and Smart Triggers on top of an offline database, you sell on Amazon US or UK with a Professional account, or you already pay for Seller 365. The honest ScoutIQ alternative has the full feature-by-feature breakdown.

Pick Scoutly if…

…price decides it, you scout a lot of no-signal locations (the database is $35/mo direct), books are only one part of a broader arbitrage cart, or you want listing software in the same subscription. The details are in our Scoutly review.

Pick BiblioScan if…

…your sourcing looks like shelves, boxes and whole collections rather than single barcodes, you sell in France, Germany or Spain, or you want buyback offers from 20+ US sites on every scan, with a free tier to start and credits that stay valid for life on every subscription except the Weekly plan.

Still weighing other names? The book scanner app roundup covers seven apps, including Bookzy, Scoutify 2, Profit Bandit and SellerAmp.

Bottom Line

ScoutIQ and Scoutly are the two offline veterans: Scoutly is cheaper ($9.95 or $35/mo direct) and broader in scope, ScoutIQ costs more ($14 or $44/mo) and brings eScore. BiblioScan is the pick when your problem is volume rather than signal: one photo per shelf, buyback offers from 20+ sites, and Europe. Test it on your next box with 5 free credits, no card required.

FAQ

Is Scoutly better than ScoutIQ?

Neither wins across the board. Scoutly is cheaper and handles more product categories; ScoutIQ adds the eScore demand metric and is part of the Seller 365 bundle. Both offer an offline database, and both evaluate one barcode at a time, where BiblioScan reads a whole shelf from one photo.

Which is cheaper, ScoutIQ or Scoutly?

Scoutly. As of October 2026, its direct prices are $9.95/mo for live search and $35/mo with the offline database, versus $14 and $44 for ScoutIQ ($10 and $36 a month billed annually). Through the App Store, Scoutly costs $14.99 and $39.99 a month.

Do ScoutIQ and Scoutly work offline?

Yes, both offer a downloadable database: ScoutIQ on its Live + Database plan, Scoutly on its Professional plan. BiblioScan has no offline mode; its photo analysis needs a connection.

Which one works in Europe?

ScoutIQ covers the US and UK only. Scoutly's live search covers Amazon France, Germany, Italy and Spain, but its offline database stops at the US, Canada and the UK. BiblioScan covers France, Germany and Spain alongside the US.

Can any of them scan a whole shelf at once?

Only BiblioScan. ScoutIQ and Scoutly evaluate one barcode or title at a time; BiblioScan recognizes every book on a shelf or in a box from a single photo, then ranks them by resale potential.

Do I need an Amazon seller account?

For ScoutIQ's live lookups, yes, a Professional account; its offline database works without one. BiblioScan works without a seller account, and linking one is optional.
